My New Second Home

I left my previous job and found a new home in Carbon. This entire place bursts with creativity. From fun loving creative people to cheerful decor that just brings a smile to my face. I’m happy and I’m proud to be a Carbonite.

The first iPad was available in US. Here in Singapore, most of us could only look longingly at pictures of that coveted gadget that only the most privileged could own. Those who could get it from overseas friends were flaunting their iPads. I almost choked when I saw a FaceBook photo of my 2 year old niece playing with her dad’s iPad, before it was available in Singapore.
Mom got the new iPad…now I want one #Now!

After the initial iPad, iPad 2 came along. The gadget crazy friends swap their iPad for iPad2. I was envious, but I have a family to feed. With limited funds, I had to forgo the iPads. At least I ‘ve got my iPhone.

The new iPad came with retina display. Vivid images that put all past displays to shame. To-die-for in simple terms.

A strong family unit is the basis of a strong society.

A family you return to at the end of the day, with whom you share about anything under the sun, laugh together, cry together, support one another… bond together… is an often a taken for granted blessing. It is when we lose a family member or when one goes overseas long term, that one may realise how precious family bonding sessions are.

There’s a gap in the way the young and the old view technology.
Kids embrace technology fully as their way of life while the senior citizens are concerned about too much time being spent on the internet. They’re worried about kids coming across vulgarities, like the F word.

My kid was chided by grandma about the F word appearing on his computer. F as in Facebook, which just happens to have the letter F as their logo :p

Then there’s the typical complaint about grandparents confiscating the computer, with the occasional tech savvy grandparent changing the password.

I wont be on that much anymore, my stupid grandpa changed my internet password…

Technology could be a barrier between the generations, or an enabler for family bonding.

Imagine grandma and grandson sitting together in front of the computer designing a birthday card for mom.

Or grandpa and grand daughter spending time playing a computer game together.

Imagine grandchild teaching grand parent how to use the smart phone, or computer, so that the elderly can spend their retirement days getting in touch with friends through social networks, reading the latest news online, or planning their travel using online resources.

The Avengers Movie. That’s one of the best superhero flicks in a very long time. There’s a good blend of character development and action for the fan boys and girls. We see Thor vs Ironman, Hulk vs everyone, and the friendship that blossoms between Tony Stark and Bruce Banner is totally heartwarming.

Great opening scene for Black Widow as she shows us how girls can kick butt.

Lots of feel good moments in this superhero movie.
